Make Your Home Stand Out

Tags: curb appeal

You don’t have to curb your enthusiasm when it comes to boosting curb appeal. Make your home stand out and increase its value with these simple and cost-effective tips.

Deep Cleaning
If you don’t already own one, rent or borrow a pressure washer to brighten up your home’s exterior. You make also want to use a deck brush and cleaning solution to scrub away dirt. Use a broom to get rid of any yard debris and cobwebs on your porch or patio and wipe down any outdoor furniture and fixtures.

Front Door Makeover
Have some fun and paint your front door a new shade, or just touch it up with a fresh coat. While you’re at it, think about upgrading your doorknob to keyless entry, or consider a video doorbell like this one.

Update Porch Décor
Dress up your front entry with outdoor furniture, potted plants and other seasonal décor like a welcome sign, outdoor rug or fresh flowers. Consider adding a rocking chair, flag or porch swing but avoid overfilling the space or making it look too cluttered.

Light it Up
The right lighting can transform a space. Consider small porch lamps with Edison style bulbs or outdoor string lights that match your homes style. Swap out bulbs in existing light fixtures for brighter, longer lasting LED ones. You may also want to consider solar powered or motion sensor lights for added security when you’re not home.

Don’t forget that the exterior of your home is the first thing visitors — and potential buyers — lay eyes on, so make sure they like what they see with these small but significant improvements. I’d love to see your before and after photos if you decide to make some changes and update your curb appeal.

Thanks, and be well!
